From web to desktop to classroom to fulldome planetarium, WorldWide Telescope from Microsoft Research enables you to easily and readily explore the Universe, bringing together imagery from the best ground and space-based telescopes in the world and combining it with 3D navigation.

The WorldWide Telescope is a Web 2.0 visualization software environment that enables your computer to function as a virtual telescope for the exploration of the universe. WWT blends terabytes of images, information, and stories from multiple sources into a seamless, immersive, rich media experience delivered over the internet.

WorldWide Telescope is also capable of loading location and time-based data into the WorldWide Telescope visualization environment. Such data, for example, can include latitude, longitude, magnitude, and depth for earthquakes.

Microsoft Research has released WorldWide Telescope as a resource to the astronomy and education communities with the hope that it will inspire and empower people to explore and understand the universe.
